Performance, 30 min

Performer: Gloria Höckner

Grow a Body centers around a rhythmic, pulsating reading of a text based on scientific papers, slowly unfolding the underlying question: when is your body complete? In this performance piece, feelings carefully thread next to each other, ranging through disidentification, self-amputation (‘Body Integrity Identity Disorder’) and dissocation during a traumatic situation. A Japanese proverb intersects the two by provocatively stating, ‘Cutting something into two reveals that it once was one’. The performance then leads the audience on a speculative path to consider body constructions, the act of seeing, and a sex symbol in a well-known music video. The question circulates: when do we identify a body as ‘mine’? And: what is mine?

Limited participation. Registration 15 minutes before the start of the performance in the stage area of the historic hall.

This body is not me, it’s not mine“).
