SHIMURAbros’s film is part of a research project initiated during their residency at NTU CCA Singapore and continues their investigations on the ontology and language of film. A series of events are woven together through a focus on light as a protagonist and power source in the cinematic process. The layering of events is translated into film through the simultaneous blending of three sources of lighting: an ancient coconut lamp, an amalgam of city lights and the masterful lighting setup during the recording. Playing with perception, the work emerges as an abstract picture until it slowly dissolves into a still-life image of the industrial scenery in the port area of Singapore.

Der Film ist Teil eines Forschungsprojekts von SHIMURAbros am NTU CCA Singapore und setzt ihre Untersuchungen zu Ontologie und Filmsprache fort. Eine Serie von Ereignissen wird miteinander in Beziehung gesetzt, wobei Licht sowohl in seiner Funktion als Protagonist als auch als Ausgangsmaterial der Kinoprojektion ins Zentrum gerückt wird. Die Schichtung der Ereignisse wird mittels des Überblendens von drei Lichtquellen – einer alten Kokosnusslampe, eines Amalgams von Lichtern einer Stadt und der meisterhaften Belichtung während der Aufnahme – in den Film übersetzt. Mit der Wahrnehmung spielend, scheint die Arbeit zunächst ein abstraktes Bild zu zeigen, das sich langsam in ein Stillleben der industriellen Landschaft im Hafengebiet von Singapur auflöst.
